Idaho Decompression: A Three-Day Celebration of Community, Art, and Nature

After a long-awaited hiatus, Idaho’s beloved grassroots camping tradition returns to the rugged landscapes of the Gem State

The Idaho Decompression (last occurring in 2018) is a volunteer-led camping event that has defined rural Idaho Autumns, and is officially back on the calendar. From October 9th through October 11th, 2026, life enthusiasts will converge on Captain Harry’s Oasis in Mountain Home, Idaho for an experience that blends Art, Nature, Communal Living, and the Simple Joy of An Idaho Sunset.

A Legacy Reborn

Founded over twenty years ago by a group of locals that focused on individualism and the arts, created the event with a desire to reconnect after a busy festival season with nature and each other. After almost ten years of rest Idaho Decompression is reborn. The spirit remains strictly non-commercial and entirely volunteer-run, while installing new traditions with the old.

As an official extension of the Burning Man Regional Network (Burning Man Project), the Idaho Decompression is guided by a culture of creativity, community, and radical responsibility. The event is founded upon and strictly follows the Ten Principles, which serve as the cornerstone for our shared experience.

As a volunteer-run event, the Idaho Decompression relies on the participation of its attendees. Roles are currently open for volunteers.
