Lead Positions

Head Lead "The Big Friendly Boss of the Dust"

The Head Lead is the conductor of this dusty orchestra. They keep the whole event pointed in the right direction, make sure teams talk to each other, and prevent chaos from evolving into spicy chaos. If something big needs deciding, this is the human you call.

Fire Safety "The Flame Whisperers"

Fire Safety makes sure all burnable things burn intentionally and not because someone got creative with tiki torches. They wrangle fire performers, burn perimeters, fuel storage, and anything that glows too enthusiastically.

Safety Lead "The Guardian of Not Dying"

The Safety Lead is the keeper of “Let’s Not Do That.” They coordinate medical, emergencies, radios, and all the “what if” scenarios. If something goes sideways, they’re already three steps ahead.

Placement "The City Builders"

Placement decides where camps, art, sound, and weirdness go. They’re basically SimCity players in real life, making sure nobody puts a flamethrower next to a nap tent.

Tech "The Keepers of the Digital Realm"

Tech is the crew that tends the sacred Idaho Decompression website. They update pages, fix weird glitches, tame unruly menus, and make sure the online portal to our dusty universe actually works. If it lives on the website, they guard it like cyber‑rangers with keyboards instead of khaki.

LNT "The Leave No Trace Heroes"

LNT ensures the land looks better after we leave. They coordinate MOOP sweeps, cleanup crews, and the sacred ritual of “picking up that thing someone definitely dropped on purpose.”

Path lighting "The Glowworm Engineers"

These folks make sure you can find your way home at 3 AM without accidentally wandering into a cactus. They place solar lights, LEDs, and glowing trails across the event.

Secretary "The Keeper of All The Things"

The Secretary tracks meetings, documents, decisions, and the general memory of the event. They’re the lore‑master of Idaho Decomp bureaucracy.

Social Media "The Hype Sorcerers"

They run the socials, craft announcements, and keep the community excited. They translate burner chaos into digestible posts for the outside world.

Hospitality "The Vibe Stewards"

Hospitality welcomes artists, volunteers, and guests. They help people feel supported, hydrated, oriented, and occasionally emotionally validated.

Gate "The Guardians of the Threshold"

Hospitality welcomes artists, volunteers, and guests. They help people feel supported, hydrated, oriented, and occasionally emotionally validated.

Greeters "The Joy Ambassadors"

Greeters welcome people with warmth, humor, and sometimes a gentle reminder to breathe. They help new burners feel at home and returning burners feel seen.

Volunteer "The Wonderful People Coordinators"

Volunteer Coordinators match humans to jobs, shifts, and teams. They’re the glue that keeps the event staffed and the champions of “Hey, can you help with this?”

Regulations "The Rule Whisperers"

These folks handle permits, compliance, fire marshals, land managers, and all the official grown‑up stuff that keeps the event legal and alive.

WWW "The What‑When‑Where Oracles"

WWW is the team that creates the official What, When, Where guide — the grand schedule of all activities, workshops, performances, rituals, shenanigans, and delightful nonsense happening at Decompression. They’re the cartographers of time, mapping out where you should be and when the magic unfolds.

Ambassador "The Bridge Builders"

Ambassadors connect Decomp with the broader community — new burners, partner orgs, local groups, and curious humans. They help people feel welcome and plugged in.

Conclave "The Fire Ritual Coordinators"

Conclave organizes fire performers, choreography, safety, and the ceremonial energy around the burn. They’re the mystics of movement and flame.

Rangers "The Calm in the Chaos"

Rangers are the neutral, non‑judgmental helpers who de‑escalate situations, mediate conflicts, and keep the event safe through presence and communication. They’re the desert’s social Jedi.
